Robert & Morgan's wedding in Poway: two cultures, one dance floor
A hilltop estate in Poway, a Russian-speaking host and two DJs — inside Robert and Morgan's August wedding, where the dance floor didn't empty until the fire pit was lit.
On August 2, 2025, we took our gear up to a hilltop estate in Poway for Robert and Morgan’s wedding. Tuscan arches, an infinity pool that spills toward the mountains, string lights overhead — the kind of view San Diego County keeps hidden in the hills east of the coast. Our job was to make the sound and the energy match the setting. It did.
One wedding, two cultures, several languages
Robert comes from a Jewish family, Morgan from a Mexican one — and the guest list showed it. English, Spanish and Russian were all in the room, and a big part of a day like this is making sure nobody feels like they’re on the outside of the joke.
Lyudmila from our team ran the evening in Russian — introductions, toasts, the timeline, the little cues that tell a crowd when to gather and when to dance. To bring Morgan’s family right into it, the groom’s sister translated as the night went on, so every announcement and toast reached the whole room. It’s a small thing that changes the feel of a mixed celebration: nobody is left guessing what just happened.
Two DJs behind the decks
The music was in the hands of DJ K2 and DJ Andre, trading off through the night. Two DJs means the energy never dips for a track change and there’s always someone reading the floor — dialing it back for dinner, lifting it for the first dances, then handing the crowd exactly the song that fills the floor.
Sound and setup that fit the view
An estate wedding is photographed from every angle, so the gear has to look as good as it sounds. We work behind a DJ booth with a clean facade — cables and cases stay out of frame — with pro speakers and a subwoofer sized for an open-air terrace. Full, clear sound across the patio, and a setup that reads as part of the décor rather than a service area.
The party peaked at sunset
Then the sky did its thing. As the sun dropped behind the hills the whole terrace turned orange, glow sticks came out, the fire pit lit up, and Robert and Morgan were in the middle of it with everyone around them. That’s the part you can’t script — you can only build the conditions for it and then keep the floor full. This one stayed full.
It was, in a word, fun — the kind of night the couple and their guests were still talking about after.
